Studies on Antioxidation Effects of US(Unprocessed seeds of Stychnos nux-vomica), PS(Processed seeds of Stychnos nux-vomica)

Abstract
Objectives: US, PS were investigated effects of antioxidation for DPPH(electron donating ability) radical ability, nitrate reductase activity(NR), superoxide dismutase activity(SOD), catalase activity, lipid peroxidase(LP) and glutathione(GSH).

Methods: At first, we checked In vitro, DPPH radical ability and NR. And then, In vivo, SOD activity, Catalase activity, GSH activity. and lipid peroxidation.

Results: In vitro, DPPH radical ability and nitrate reductase activity(NR) were increased according to the increasing of US, PS concentrations. Among others PS was significantly increased to the level of BHT. In vivo, compared with normal group, SOD activity and Catalase activity were decreased in the acetaminophen treated group. On the other hand, US, PS in the pretreated groups SOD activity and Catalase activity were significantly increased. Among others PS was almost increased to the level of Ascorbic acid. In the acetaminophen treated group, GSH activity was decreased by compare with normal group. And in the US, PS pretreated groups, GSH activity was increased to the control group. Among others PS was almost significantly increased to the level of Ascorbic acid. Compared with normal group, lipid peroxidation was increased in acetaminophen treated group. On the other hand, US, PS in the pretreated groups were decreased. Among others PS was almost significantly decreased to the level of Ascorbic acid.

Conclusions: These results suggest that PS is the most superior to others, but we have to study its mechanism hereafter.
